This is one of the major developments going on in the country and I am really interested in tracking its progress as this initiative will ensure a thousand different things but most importantly it will act as a single biggest basis of ones identification in India. A country’s progress largely depends on its financial backbone and it’s really heartening to see that banks will now officially accept UID as a valid address proof. In today’s times of India it has also been said by UIDAI chief Nandan Nielkani that Aadhaar card is a valid KYC – know your customer document and this will enable financial institutions to further assess the background of individuals and help them serve better.

Even the telecom and petroleum ministry also consider Aadhaar as a valid KYC norm for issue of SIM cards and cooking gas connections.

I urge everyone to apply for the card if not already applied as the faster we all are on the system the better is it for all of us. You can read the complete process of applying for the unique identification car here

Aadhar UID project touches one crore applications

In just nine months since the launch of the Aadhaar project in Maharashtra, UIDAI has issued one crore Aadhaar numbers. 52 year old, NK Chheda from Maharashtra has the distinction of being the resident whose Aadhaar number was generated on reaching this milestone. Coincidentally, the first resident to get the Aadhaar number, Ranjana Sonawane, is also a resident of Maharashtra. She received her number on 29th September, 2010 in Tembhli village of Nandurbar district. You can download official report on UID here

I have recently installed a CNG conversion kit in my car and now it can run on petrol and gas both. Finally after a lot of research online and offline i have made this decision and it really makes me happy for two reasons:

It’s going to save me a lot of money as they say money saved is money earned

I am going to contribute in a small way by not polluting the environment hence helping reduce global warming ;-)

I am writing this article for people to get accurate information and not spend time searching the internet just as i did. As there are not many source of authentic information for CNG or LPG conversion kits in India.

Overview of gas conversion kits in India

There are quite a few gas conversion kits available in the market most of these kits are either imported from Italy and Argentina and rest are made locally here in India. Install only government approved CNG kits in your car. As when your car will be sent for RTO registration they will verify the status of the CNG kit manufacturer. There are two types of kits one with sequential system and other is lambad system.

The list of government and RTO approved CNG kit can be found here:

Longas Italia (Installed in my vehicle)

Tomasetto

Tartarini

Landi Renzo

Lovato

BRC

Unitax

SKN

Process of converting petrol car to gas is simple

Identify the right kit for your car

Make the most important decision to get it converted by authorized dealers or our trusted mechanics

RTO registration of CNG kit

Periodical checks on fine tuning the system

For better performance

Now a days all CNG kits automatically start the car on petrol and then immediately switches to gas

For better performance of your engine start on petrol and drive for 2 kms before switching to CNG, as gas is dry and does not provide any lubrication to the engine so when you drive on petrol first it will lubricate the engines

For installation of government approved CNG kits you should only trust government approved vendors. I have got my kit installed in maruti swift dezire from sai service which is an authorized maruti service centre

Pricing for installation of CNG kit in Mumbai is Rs 32000 from road side genuine vendors and Rs 42000 with authorized and reputed vendors. If your car is under warranty then I suggest

Generally I write about things that I experience on the professional front. This time around I am writing something I have been experiencing a nagging issue (Itunes stuck at syncing contacts or calendars) on my iphone and thought would use this medium to help fellow iphone users overcome the issue.

I have been using iphone 3GS for couple of years now and have been actively involved in the jail breaking community. Have been upgrading and tweaking my iphone for all sort of different things. After an upgrade on 4.2.1 using Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w I found three very common issues

Iphone stuck at synching contacts or calendars

Battery drain

Multi-tasking not working well

I will help you decode the first issue for the other two you can use SAM preferences and I am sure (on 3gs) it will surely solve the battery drain and multi-tasking issue. Details click here http://www.bingner.com/SAM.html

FOLLOWING IS ONLY FOR JAILBROKEN IPHONE STUCK AT SYNCING CONTACTS OR CALENDARS WITH OUTLOOK

The idea is to do simple things first and try and arrive at root cause of the problem it’s not a one stop solution. Please backup iphone using itunes before you start.

Step 1: Try and sync your iphone with some other computer

Step 2: Uninstall Mobile Me if you installed it along with itunes

Step 3: Step 3: Reset Sync History – Process

Step 4: Install latest version of itunes and try again. Strictly follow this process

Step 5: Create a new user on your operating system and then try synching itunes

Step 6: Disable third party login in outlook - Process

Step 7: I know it tedious but try all of the above on another operating system

Step 8: Take a backup of your .pst files – meaning just copy them and keep in another location

Step 9: Run Scanpst.exe and fix all pst files and then run the sync – Process

Step 10: Create a new pst file and make it as default and try syncing - Process

Step 11: unfortunately if all of the above doesn’t work then there is no option but to redo the jail breaking process. Use redmondpie.com as a genuine source of information for jailbreaking.

Or write to me and I shall be able to help you out.

Happy Synching.

I haven’t been able to blog since last 5 months. Though my passion for writing and sharing my opinions were still the same it’s just that I wasn’t finding enough time to blog. Why am I writing this? I could have just started writing and things would go back to normal but at the same time a thought crossed my mind that there would be a lot of people like me who want to blog but had to stop blogging due to one or the other constraint.

In such cases we would think about a lot of stuff like:

Is it really worth starting a dead blog

What happens to my SEO

What happens to my Google indexing

My audiences would have stopped waiting to read my post

Many such things crop up in our mind and we starting thinking towards starting a new one or just leave this one behind. Let me tell you, it’s a bad idea to leave this one and let your effort go down the drain.

First and foremost, it’s your blog – your perception your views about topics that you write about and the points mentioned above really doesn’t matter. This would matter only if you are a PRO Blogger but if you were then you would never land up in this state.

Restarting to blog is more about mindset than anything else. Most people think of having changes in design or functionality some might improve interactivity of the blog and the other would improve / include social media aspect of the blog. Each one of us is trying to give a reason to the world that why you were absent for this long and why are you starting all over again.

Bottom Line when starting to blog after a gap:

You aren’t starting to write because people want you to write, you are because you are passionate about sharing your perception with the world.

I have approached the whole thing with this mind set and everything has worked out well.

Few things I did before I re-started

Promised myself that I will post at least once every 15 days

Informed my personal network to watch out for my blog again

Used social media to spread message so that people can be aware that I am starting again

Only after I learnt that an estimated Rs 27000 Crores will be spent directly or indirectly to manage this event my personal views have changed. According to me we are a little too early to host common wealth games as a nation. I would like to ask the Indian government if hosting CWG 2010 is best in the interest of the nation in terms of utilizing time, effort, money, resources and focus as compared to other areas which are far basic and critical for progress of the country.

Two major areas of impact that I would use the funds for:

Infrastructure in other cities:

When you think of this huge a budget there are so many thoughts cross your mind where these funds can be utilized. I am not expert to decide where the funds could be used alternatively but spend will result into a great infrastructure of one place – Delhi. Minus the CWG these funds could be used to improve infrastructure in many other cities and that would result into far greater employment and for long term.

Sporting facility across the country:

Since this budget is going to be used for a sporting event, I am forced to draw a parallel on the sporting infrastructure we have in the nation. There is news in the press every now and then on how even the best of the athletes do not have proper training facility, grounds to practice, access to high quality coaches and technology.

There are a zillion other areas where this fund could have been used specially in the areas where it pains the most but the government has decided to host the common wealth games. Since we are going to host the games we have an opportunity to show the world our capability in terms of managing such a large event and let the world experience Indian hospitality.

I am sure the games will be a huge success.

I have been running this blog since 2 years now and have never encountered a situation where my blog has been hacked or been infected by a virus or malicious software. I am sure that there would be people like me who would be suffering from the same problem and would be trying hard to find a solution. There is nothing worst then seeing your site/blog down because of virus and it’s a painful process to start searching for a solution.

Especially when Godaddy announced that this mass infection of virus was a problem at their end. I realised that the problem is widespread and serious. I would sincerely like to thank these guys in helping lesser mortals like us (read non technie) to find an easy fix to holasionweb virus on Godaddy hosted sites.

The solution can be found here:

Tintation

Daniel Ansari’s blog

DLOCC – This has personally worked for me in fixing holasionweb Trojan virus on my wordpress blog hosted on godaddy.

I hope this helps.

In today’s day and age we are surrounded by the web world and most of our time due to work or personal reasons is spent online. For most of us Internet has become our lifeline and increasingly people are looking at creating digital assets of their own on the World Wide Web. I have created my own Synergy Technology Services | SynergyHr | GigaThoughts and I am sure you might be managing websites, blogs, micro sites and other social media for personal or professional use directly or indirectly. We put in a lot of effort to make sure we create good user experience for our visitors. At the same time we keep hearing how important it is to implement these terms SEO, Social Media marketing, online marketing, LinkedIn, Facebook and the list is endless.

Again I am sure everyone is aware that enhancing web presence is an ongoing activity and it needs constant evaluation and measurement of its effectiveness to go on and make it even better. Over time I have been a victim of this funda that once we implement something new, we ask our immediate network and take feedback. We measure it for a while and then assume that the changes we implemented are showing results and leave it there.

The purpose of the article to share awesome tools that I have used to measure and improve online effectiveness and it can be useful to beginners and experienced people as well. There is a company called hubspot they provide software as a service to improve inbound marketing for your organization. In addition to their inbound marketing software they have developed some really handy measurement tools that can be useful and individuals alike.

Website Grader: This tool evaluates effectiveness of your website from an SEO perspective. This is one tool that gives me a detailed analysis on how my blog is performing. You will see a badge that displays website grader rank it’s 98 out of 100 for GigaThoughts

Twitter Grader: Evaluates your twitter account by giving an overall rank and also gives ranks for your followers and the ones you are following. Grade for GigaThoughts is 82 out of 100

Gobbledygook Grader: This is another impressive effort it helps you evaluate your content for Gobbledygook words. This simply means use of jargons which cannot be easily understood and this one really helps in simplifying the content to a large extent. This article content has been graded 91 out of 100.

Press Release Grader: Very helpful for PR people and for most of us it’s always good to get your press release graded as it helps in identifying its marketing effectiveness score. We don’t have press release for GigaThoughts but I have tried this at professional level and I can recommend that.

Facebook Grader: This does the same for Facebook for business pages, individual pages or individual accounts. GigaThoughts page grade is 15 out of 100 and my individual account has grade 67 out of 100

I haven’t used the following tools myself but looking at the other tools I am sure these will be good enough as well and worth giving a try

Action Grader

FourSquare Grader

Book Grader

Alerts Grader

I would urge you guys to try these tools and let me know your feedback.

Every now and then there comes a disruptive technology that changes the rule of the game. My initial analysis of using this application makes me believe that such mashups will play vital role as far as job search is concerned. Applications like JobDeck will provide an alternate channel for employers to scout for new talent and at the same time give multiple opportunities to the jobseeker.

TweetDeck and TwitJobSearch have teamed up to provide you with a dedicated JobDeck. This makes it even easier to search for jobs, as well as staying in touch with what’s happening now, and connecting you with your contacts across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and more. Source: TweetDeck.

The Hiring ecosystem:

Since I run an HR services company and a social media enthusiast I am in a position to analyze the tool both from the employer and employee perspective. My analysis of the positioning of JobDeck is given below in the table.

Job Seeker

Employer

Register profile with job boards

Advertise job on job boards

Subscribe to job news letters

Send out job related news letters

Conduct a job search via job boards

Conduct candidate search using job boards

Apply to companies directly

Get in touch with candidates directly

Increasingly use social media to look for open positions

Increasingly use social media to advertise open positions

Here comes in avenues like JobDeck, where job seeker and employer create a relationship synchronously

JobDeck analysis:

JobDeck consists of primarily 2 column layout where in the first column job related tweets are displayed using the powerful search engine developed by guys at TwitJobSearch. The tweets are filtered in a manner where the content is limited to job hunting. There is a “Job Search Experts” user list. This area can be used to stay updated with the latest development in the job market and it has lot of HR and career related articles as well. The second column is a dedicated column that is directly connected to the main feed of TwitJobSearch which searches the web and returns search results relevant to jobs and job market.

What I would love to see in JobDeck

Even more powerful search – based on location, job type, company name like you usually have on job boards

Ability to filter updated just based on my career stream. Like a customized JobDeck for a sales professional in the telecommunication sector.

Ability to develop contact base and tweet with each contact from JobDeck

Trending like twitter

Better integration with other social media applications

JobDeck is a pretty decent attempt made towards being innovative, it has a long way to go before it can become main stream and threaten the existence of traditional media like Job Boards. Did we just think about News Papers are traditional media?? Sorry that’s dead long time ago.

To me this is a brilliant concept and the first step towards a newer, smarter and a synchronous mechanism for a job seeker and an employer.

We all know how big the market is for iphone applications and there are brilliant applications on iTunes which are broadly categorized into utilities, games, entertainment being the most sought after. Apple Inc had officially released iphone SDK in March 2008 and since then the mobile development community has been busy dishing out awesome applications. Smart organizations capitalized on the first mover advantage and developed an iphone app to promote/market their products and services. I have been using iphone and now am on 3GS and am involved in recruitment business I am eagerly waiting for companies to develop customized iphone apps to provide/ facilitate recruitment services.

I would like to see companies provide iphone application which caters to varied interest level of internal employees, candidates/ consultants and clients.

Features that I would like to see in an iphone app by category

Candidates:

Resumes submission

Push notifications for jobs of their interest

Search for jobs

Contact details of recruiters

Applications status

Job referrals

Companies:

Push requirements to the vendor

Status on applications

Contact details of the team working on the assignments

Internal employees:

Access to internal recruitment system

Quick submission of resumes to client

Contact details of client

Send out job alerts

Access to candidates social networking details for quick connect

My research recruitment apps on iphone resulted into very few well designed apps. A quick search on iTunes and Google search resulted in apps like:

Radar Recruit – very well made application by an Australian recruitment which specializes in creative jobs in the advertising sector. Radar is primarily using this app to provide job listing by category where the candidate can search for jobs and apply or refer the job posting to someone. You can view the app screen shot here

JobServe connect – Provides a job search engine where candidates can search for more than 50,000 jobs globally with locations services on, it has an interesting feature to find jobs near you. It also provide generic functionality like creating a search agent, emailing the job etc You can view the app screen shot here

Korn and ferry – this is one company that is taking social media recruiting to the next level. They have developed an iphone app with a lot of real good features. You can read the features here

Recruiterapp.com – these people have gone one step further and have developed a full blown app to manage recruitment cycle for recruitment agencies/ consultants. You can read about them here

The iphone app market is heating up and along with social media I foresee companies will have to develop innovative apps to reach candidates via mobile devices.

I would love to see a list of features that you would like in an iphone app that can facilitate the recruitment experience on a mobile device.
